Troy/Bruceville-Eddy/Lorena: Public Meetings: Notice of Public Meeting

IH 35: Woodlawn Rd. to FM 2063

McLennan County

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct two public meetings to discuss the proposed widening of Interstate 35 from Woodlawn Rd. south of Lorena to FM 2063 in Hewitt. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2001 to discuss the section from Woodlawn Rd. to North FM 2837 in Lorena. The second meeting, which will discuss the section from North FM 2837 to FM 2063 in Hewitt, is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, 2001. Each meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Lorena Elementary School Cafeteria at 420 N. Houston St. in Lorena. Prior to the formal presentation at 7:00 p.m., TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in an informal setting.

The proposed project will reconstruct and widen the existing highway from four lanes to six lanes initially, and allow for the additional construction of a seventh and eighth lane ultimately. A concrete traffic barrier will be provided between the northbound and southbound sections. Additional right-of-way will be required for the project and relocations may be necessary. Information concerning the State’s Relocation Assistance Program and the benefits and services available to affected property owners will be available at the meetings.

Maps and other drawings showing the proposed location and design will be displayed at these meetings. This material is available at TxDOT’s Interstate 35 Project Office located at 801 Austin Avenue, Suite 1030, Waco, TX 76701.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the meetings and express their views. Persons interested in attending the meetings who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact Ms. Alisa Polansky, PE at (254) 754-8087 as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made. Since the public meetings will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should be made at least one week prior to the meetings. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Verbal and written comments regarding the proposed project are requested. Comments may be presented either at the meeting or in writing after the meeting. Comments must be received no later than 10 days following the meeting in order to be included in the public meeting record. Written statements may be submitted to Mr. John F. Obr, PE, IH 35 Project Director, Texas Department of Transportation, 801 Austin Avenue, Suite 1030, Waco, TX 76701 at any time on or before 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2001.
