Right of Way Parcel Acquisition Flow Chart (220 KB)
This flowchart summarizes the process which the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) follows to acquire right-of-way for highway construction. The legend at the upper left-hand corner of the flowchart indicates by color the major phases of Right of Way Acquisition:

• Planning and Design (white)
• Acquisition (green)
• Appraisal (yellow)
• Relocation (pink)
• Condemnation (blue)
• Records Processing (orange)
• Leasing (red)

The first six tasks (white) at the left of the flowchart indicate the Project Development Process (separate process). Upon completion of the environmental document, including the Public Hearing, a release is requested (green) so that TxDOT can begin the ROW acquisition process. This exhibit will be available at all second round Public Meetings and final Public Hearings.
